Birthdays are awesome days for getting new tattoos. I, like many young people do, celebrated my eighteenth birthday with a tattoo a few years ago. I also celebrated my last day of high school with a second tattoo a few months later, but that isn’t the point.

What is the point? That birthdays are one of the best days to get tattoos. I am hoping to receive enough money for a new tattoo or something cool like that, but tattoos cost money and I do not want to get my hopes up. But I have rounded up some spectacular tattoo, piercing, and body mod pics for you all.

The modern hardcore body modification scene did not just start by itself. It took dedicated people trying new ideas and techniques until they got things to where they are now. Steve Haworth is said to be responsible for most modern, hardcore body modifications.

Steve Haworth is the founder of subdermal implants, transdermal implants, laser branding, and many other things. He is a former piercer but according to his website his current occupation is 3D Body Modification and Human Evolution Artist. He has also done wonderful work with things like suspension, surface bars, and ear shaping.

Haworth owns Haworth Tech Companies (HTC Studios), Kaos Software (silicone body jewelry manufacturing), and New Hole (piercing products). He is the Co- Founder of Horns and Halos (they put on the Phoenix Fetish Ball), and Life Suspended (a group that performs Suspensions).

Steve lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his partner, Cookie

I thought I had run out of different types of piercings to write about, that I was going to have to dig deeper into the world of body piercing to find something to write about. However, I found a piercing I had not yet mentioned or heard of even.

Deep chest piercings are piercings that go deeper than most and run vertically or horizontally through the chest. It does not go deep enough to hit muscle; it only goes through the skin. The piercing is usually three or four inches long and takes a long time to heal. They can take up to a couple of years to fully heal due to the length of the piercing. The piercing is almost always done on males. When done on women it will go between the breasts, usually on men it is seen through the breasts.

PrayerPiercingPrayer and piercings have never been something one would think would be combined. Unless one is praying for a piercing to turn out good and not reject or get infected. But oh just you wait there is the prayer piercing.

The payer piercing is a piercing on the outer edge of the hand and usually done as a surface piercing. Seen best when someone would be praying, hence the name prayer piercing. It looks best when done on both hands. But symmetry may not be for everyone. I am guessing that it could be done horizontal or vertical.

The arguments against this piercing would be that it is a surface piercing which have been known to have a very high rejection rate. That makes me think that someone could easily just get this done as microdermals. There would be a much, much lower risk of rejection. Of course there is still is the risk of the piercing snagging on things, or getting rubbed on things,  due to the area of the hand it is on. When you think about it, that area rubs against a lot of stuff.
