An example of a Suspension

Suspension events are popping up all over the place these days. This past weekend one was held on Fort Wayne, Indiana at the Punk N Ink Tattoo Convention.

At the event a mother daughter duo was suspended together. Who better to undergo an ancient tribal ritual and hang by meat hooks with than Ole Mumsy right? The mother said she felt an odd sense of freedom while being suspended. And that she did not feel the hooks stretching her skin but rather a sense of calm coming over her. The daughter said the real painful part was afterwards. The day after someone had to deeply rub the muscles in her back from the pain of the hooks being taken out. –Journal Gazette from Indiana

Here is the original article from the Journal Gazette for more on the event and experience of the mother and daughter.

Here is a past post of mine going into more detail on suspension

jes with tatChurch and Tattoos where something that have never been thought to mix well. Just imagine getting a tattoo in church, right at up at the altar; ha no way you say, but wait you are wrong.

This past Sunday (November 22, 2009) at a community church in Mill Creek, Washington in a recently added feature to the sermon titled “Permanent Ink”, live tattoos being given at the altar at the end of the sermon.  This church also boasts twenty-minute rock sessions before each sermon begins.

Several of the 150 parishioners in attendance were tattooed that day. The previous Sunday the church watched a video of one of its attendants getting a tattoo removed. (Tattoo removal equipment was too cumbersome to bring into the church).

The church does not advocate for or against tattoos it says. Tattoos are up to a person to decide on. They say are giving the same sermons as before but just finding new ways to tell it. According to the pastor, permanent markings are in the bible. The most popular symbol being 666, sign of the devil. Allegedly, there where even markings on Jesus.

Hello world

Posted Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

I have always been very interested in body art since i first learned about it as a very young child. I wanted tattoos since I learned about them around the age of 4. Most of my body art interests are tattoos as you can guess, but I have always liked seeing piercings, and body modifications. I am starting this blog to talk about my findings in my research and experiences with tattoos and other body art topics such as getting pierced for the first time. I will be starting a new feature for the paper I write for at my college but that will just focus on people at the college, and this blog will talk about more world wide topics. I will also try to keep up on body art/modification news. I have never had a blog before so bear with me people. It may be a slow process but I promise to make this great and do good writing with good grammar.
